Historically Applied Pesticide (HAP) Site Techincal Guidance Issued by NJDEP

The NJDEP recently issued the Historically Applied Pesticide (HAP) Site Technical Guidance, which upon first review covers plenty of subject matter related to this topic including sampling protocols, SI/RI, and remediation. Some of the points from the NJDEP's “Findings and Recommendations for the Remediation of Historic Pesticide ContaminationFinal ReportMarch 1999 have carried over as well...but open the response to comments for this new guidance. Plenty of excellent questions, and a couple of interesting responses.   For all of the non-NJ natives, there's a reason why we're called "The Garden State,” so don't be surprised when pesticides show up in your soil analyses (and Pb & As), but now there's at least some current guidance on how to handle it.   For a little historic reference, take a look at this article (and advertisements) from the May 1952, NJ Farm & Garden Magazine
